Straighten Your Smile with Modern Metal Braces

Durable, effective and cost-efficient – the gold standard for many orthodontic treatments.

What Are Metal Braces?

Metal braces are a fixed orthodontic system that uses small metal brackets attached to each tooth and connected by a thin arch-wire. Your orthodontist adjusts this wire at regular intervals, gradually guiding your teeth into their correct positions.
They are one of the most reliable and effective treatments for straightening teeth and correcting bite problems — including more complex cases — thanks to their strength, durability, and precise control over tooth movement.

Why Choose Metal Braces?

  • Proven, highly effective option for a wide range of tooth alignment and bite problems — including complex cases.
  • Reliable and durable, with brackets and wires designed to withstand the forces needed for predictable tooth movement.

  • Suitable for all levels of treatment complexity, from mild crowding to more advanced corrections.

  • Typically more affordable than discreet systems like clear or lingual braces, while still delivering excellent results.

  • Transparent pricing, with treatment often starting from £2,200 for simpler 3–6 month cases.

  • Fully supervised orthodontic care, ensuring treatment progresses safely and effectively under professional guidance.

Our Metal Braces Treatment Process

Step 1 – Free Consultation
We’ll review your dental history, conduct a 3D scan or impressions, assess your bite
and alignment and discuss your objectives.

Step 2 – Planning & Bracket Bonding
Your expert orthodontist will create a customised plan. Brackets are bonded to your
teeth with a wire placed and initial adjustment made.

Step 3 – Adjustment Visits & Monitoring

Every 4-8 weeks you’ll return for adjustment of the wires, monitoring of progress and
any modulus or elastic bands required.

Step 4 – Debonding, Retention & Whitening

Once treatment is done, brackets and wires are removed, teeth cleaned/polished and
retainers fitted and free teeth whitening to maintain your new smile

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will treatment take?

It depends on the complexity of your case. Simple cases may take 3-6 months, while more complex ones can run 12+ months. For example, private UK clinic guides estimate treatment times for fixed metal braces of around 6-12 months for many cases.

Will the braces hurt?

You may feel pressure or soreness for a few days after each wire adjustment — this is normal and a sign the teeth are moving. Discomfort is typically mild and managed with over-the-counter pain relief and soft foods.

What food restrictions are there?

With metal braces you should avoid very hard or sticky foods (such as nuts, hard candy, chewing gum, caramel) that can dislodge brackets or bend wires. Good oral hygiene is crucial because brackets create extra food‐trapping areas.

Can I still play sports or musical instruments?

Yes — you simply need to use the appropriate mouthguard for contact sports, and your orthodontist can give you guidance for playing wind/woodwind instruments to minimise irritation from brackets.

What happens after the braces are removed?

You’ll receive retainers (fixed and/or removable) to maintain your alignment. Without retainers, teeth may shift back into previous positions. Retention is a critical part of long-term success.

Are metal braces right for adults?

Absolutely. Many adult patients choose metal braces because they’re highly effective, even though aesthetic concerns may lead some to prefer ceramic or aligner options.
